Third Eye Blind is
completing its next album, Crystal Baller, on the
road this summer during its tour with
Goo Goo Dolls. Singer
Stephan Jenkins explained in a statement that the
band was inspired by the
Weezer record on the
road. "Weezer put the
idea into our head that we might tour in advance of an
album, so we're bringing our recording gear with us in hopes
of catching the live feeling that we crave," he said.
Crystal Baller is
set for an October release. Jenkins said that it's the most
raw and beautiful music the band has recorded to date. Songs
were recorded at the band's own Mourningwood studio in San
Francisco.
"Having our own environment
has freed us up creatively, and I think it shows on the
tracks," Jenkins stated. "It has been such a pleasure. I
wish we could make a double album."
On touring this summer
despite Crystal Baller not being in stores, Jenkins
said, "I don't understand bands that complain about touring.
A rock 'n' roll summer is my dream since I was a kid, and
the dream lives."
Third Eye Blind/Goo Goo
Dolls dates start July 29 in Phoenix, and end September 14
in Chula Vista, California.
