Third Eye Blind
took a break from recording its third album last week to present
legendary filmmaker George Lucas with a plaque for the
group's self-titled first album. It was at the Star Wars
creator's famed Skywalker Studios north of San Francisco where
the band recorded its 1997 release.
Third Eye Blind went on to sell more than 3 million copies of
the album, fueled by the hit singles, "How's It Going To Be" and
"Semi-Charmed Kind Of Life."
Meanwhile, the band is also using Skywalker to record parts
of its next album, while also working at its own San Francisco
studio. Among the recent highlights was a visit by up-and-coming
party rocker
Andrew W.K.,
who added vocals to a new song.
The yet-to-be-titled album is tentatively scheduled for a
mid-summer release from Elektra Entertainment.
Andrew W.K. makes his own splash Tuesday (March 26) with the
release of his Island Records debut album, I Get Wet.
