Breathe,
the breast cancer awareness benefit concert, has added more musical
artists and actors to its show. Lil' Kim, Rage Against the Machine's Tom
Morello, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Rachael Leigh Cook, Michael Rapaport and
Portia de Rossi join the already impressive list of performers. Lil' Kim
will be performing with Run-DMC.
Seal,
Jurassic 5, Nikka Costa, Crazy Town, Deftones, Julia Fordham, Liz Phair,
Sugar Ray, and Third Eye Blind round out the completed set.
The
show takes place October 27 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
"Lil' Kim will allow us to push the envelope even further in terms of
live collaborations like no one has ever dreamed of," said Stephen
Jenkins, the event's co-producer and musical director. "What started
as our little idea has really snowballed."
"Breathe is an amazing opportunity because it allows such a varied
group of musicians to collaborate live who would otherwise not have the
opportunity to do so," Jenkins added. "This lineup reinforces
that breast cancer is everybody's issue."
Concert organizers have brought together the diverse artists to
demonstrate that breast cancer is a family concern.
The
Breathe concert will benefit breast cancer treatment and research,
co-produced by Step Up Women's Network and Jenkins, whose mother is a
breast cancer survivor. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
Proceeds will go to the UCLA Breast Center and the Breast Examination
Center of Harlem, an outreach program of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering
Cancer Center. More infomation is available at www.stepupwomensnetwork.org.
